How long does it take to design and build a ring?

Our made-to-order rings take approximately 4-6 weeks to design and build. However, if you require it sooner, please get in touch as we always try our best to accommodate rush orders. 

Do we need to make an appointment?

We’ve switched to by-appointment to be able to provide our clients with the best service possible during the consultations. Clients are always welcome to stop by, but an appointment is encouraged so we can make sure we have a team member available to assist you.

As we are currently offering a limited number of appointments, if you don’t see a time available, please feel free to send us an email to info@cavaliergastown.com and we will do our best to accommodate any requests!

What is your price range?

Typically, our engagement rings range between $3,000-$30,000+ depending on what stone you select from our inventory of ethically-sourced diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds.

Our wedding bands range from $500 - $5,000+ each, depending on the design, width, finger size, and the types of material or gems used.

What materials do you work with?

Our workshop is set up to work exclusively with gold (10K, 14K, 18K, 19K white, yellow and rose) and platinum. We also work with genuine diamonds and gemstones. 

*At this time we are not equipped to build rings made with alternative materials such as Tungsten, Titanium, Steel, Silver, etc.

Will you build a ring for us if we have our own diamond that we purchased online or with an heirloom stone?

For any requests regarding re-design, use of third party stones or gold, please call or e-mail prior to booking a consultation as we only take on a handful of these requests. We understand the personal significance of every piece that comes through our doors, and we want to ensure each piece is handled with care and that it is, in fact, a project we can accommodate before committing to it.

*At this time we are not currently taking on third party repairs, re-design or heirloom work. 

 


By Appointment Questions

Do I need an appointment?

We have recently switched to appointment Tuesday-Saturday. We want to be able to provide each client with the best possible service during their design consultation and answer any questions you may have during your time with us. During your design consultation you are free to use the time however you’d like!

How do I make an appointment?

The easiest way is to make one through our website so we can get a better understanding of what you are looking for. However, if you don’t see a time that works for your schedule, please feel free to send us an email and we will do our best to accommodate any requests!

Do you allow walk-ins?

If you happen to be in the neighbourhood you’re welcome to swing by and check if there have been any day-of cancelations. If not, we’d be happy to book an appointment time that fits both of our schedules to ensure we have a team member available to assist.

Why the change?

We’ve moved towards an appointment-only model to ensure we’re putting our full focus on your needs during your visit, without interruptions. 

What is the process during an appointment?

Following a quick consultation on what you’re seeking, we’ll present our showroom’s existing collection — including our loose inventory of diamonds and precious gemstones — and guide you through our custom design process. You’re welcome to try on any of the rings we have in stock!

What types of appointments do you offer and how long are they?

We offer in-store appointments on Engagement Rings (30 minutes), Wedding Bands (30 minutes) and Ready To Wear Jewellery (15 minutes), and also provide Phone Consultations (15 minutes). You’re free to ask us any questions along the way, and if you haven’t made a decision by the end of your appointment, you’re welcome to book a follow-up at a later date.

What if there are no appointments available on the day I'd like to come in?

Please email or call in and we will absolutely do our best to accommodate your schedule and try to find a time that works.

Do I have to make a purchase during my appointment?

Some decisions take time! It’s not necessary to make a purchase during your appointment.

How many people can come with me to my appointment?

A friend’s advice is priceless, but because of the size of our showroom we ask that only one person accompanies you for your appointment. If you need a larger party on-hand, please give us a heads up and we will do our best to accommodate.

 


Warranty and Insurance Questions

What is your warranty policy?

We offer a two-year manufacturing warranty on all of our designs, and we will also provide one complimentary sizing, ring maintenance, and cleaning. 

Do you provide insurance?

We do not provide insurance through Cavalier, however once your ring has been appraised we suggest giving the documentation to your current insurance provider. If you do not have insurance, we will happily provide a referral to a local company we trust. We highly recommend having your ring appraised and insured in the case of loss or damage. 

Third Party Appraisals

Appraisals that we provide at Cavalier are not done in-house, but rather by a well-recognized appraiser in Vancouver. We will happily facilitate this for you at the cost of $100 per item.

 


Sizing and Product Care Questions

How do I find out my ring size or my partner's ring size?

At Cavalier, we have various tools to measure your fingers to find out what size is best. If you are trying to find out your partner’s ring size, you can always bring in a ring of theirs and we can measure that. If that’s not an option, a ballpark size is always helpful when custom designing a ring, however we can most often resize the ring afterwards if need be.

How long will it take to resize my ring?

We will need to hold on to your ring for 7-10 days to do the sizing, and we’ll also give it a clean while we’ve got it. 

How often should I bring my ring in for maintenance?

We suggest bringing in your ring every 1-2 years to check the setting, give it a polish, and a thorough cleaning. 

How do I clean my ring?

If you've purchased your ring from us, we will happily clean your ring in our ultrasonic cleaner on the spot. If you’re wanting to give it a clean at home, we suggest using warm water, mild dish soap and a soft bristle toothbrush to loosen up any dirt that may have accumulated underneath the stones.

Repairs and Sizing for rings not from Cavalier

At this time, we are not taking on repairs for outside work as our workshop is at full capacity. We will do our best to provide a referral for a reputable local jeweller if we believe it is something they are able to assist with. 

 


Payment Questions

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, checks, bank wire transfers, and WeChat Pay. If you are interested in an alternate form of payment, please get in touch with us.

Does Cavalier offer financing?

Unfortunately we do not offer financing. We do, however, allow orders to be paid for in instalments while your ring is being built. We just ask that the ring is fully paid for before it leaves the shop. 

 


Shipping and Return Questions

Do you work with clients who don't live in Vancouver?

Don't live in Vancouver? That's ok, we can still make it work. All of our rings are custom designed for each client - From style, stones, finger size and desired material, that's up to you. The more information you provide us, the better! Send us an email with what you're looking for and we will accommodate your request via email or phone. 

Shipping

Within Canada - $50+

International - $100-$150+

*All items shipped through Cavalier are insured up to $25,000.

Do you accept returns?
Return Policy

Please be advised that our return policy varies depending on the type of purchase/on a per client basis. For any returns to be accepted, the piece must be unworn and be brought in within 14 days of purchase. 

Custom Designs - Setting and Materials

All of our engagement rings are hand crafted for each client around the stone of their choosing. For this reason, we unfortunately cannot issue refunds.

Centre Diamond or Gemstone

We will provide a credit for the centre stone, which can be transferred to a new diamond or gemstone within 14 days of purchasing.

Fine Jewellery

On most finished goods, we’ll accept exchanges for almost anything of equal or greater value within 14 days of purchasing.
